The 11th African Union Summit

Theme: “Meeting the Millenium Development Goals on water and sanitation”
“Meeting the Millenium Development Goals on water and sanitation” was the theme of the 11th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union held in Sharm El Sheikh on the 30 June- 01 July 2008.
The Summit was preceded by the 13th Ordinary session of the Executive Council and the 16th Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives' Committee (PRC). The decisions of the Assembly and the Council are in the documents Assembly/AU/Dec.193-207(XI), and EX.CL/Dec. 415- 453 (XIII).
The Union government, the Regional and continental agenda of integration, the questions of Peace and Security in Africa, NEPAD, HIV/AIDs, Food crisis in Africa, Cooperation between the United Nations and the African Union were also among the issues discussed during the Summit.

Holding under the theme: “Industrial Development of Africa”, the upcoming AU Summit will feature the election of the Chairperson of the Union and other Members of the Bureaus.
