  Post Conflict Reconstruction

Introduction

The problem of forced population displacement is very often inextricably linked with political instability, violent conflict, violation of human rights and bad governance. Refugees who flee to other countries, or internally displaced people who move to other areas within their own country, cannot return and effectively reintegrate in their areas of origin until the causes for their flight/displacement are addressed.

Experience in many parts of the world has repeatedly confirmed that the sustainable return, reintegration and rehabilitation of refugees and other displaced people depends on comprehensive and integrated efforts that aim to address both the consequences and root causes of conflict. This section of the website will feature major developments, discussions and prominent issues relating to Post Conflict Reconstruction and Development (PCRD) efforts primarily focusing on the African continent.
